From desk to dance floor

From desk to dance floor

Party season is in full swing, which inevitably means party wear decisions… to sequin or to not sequin.

I like to keep my style pretty similar to my day-to-day look. Its the shoes, handbags and accessories where I love to play dress-up. My usual 501’s given a NY Eve edge with some killer heels, a red lip and a smattering of gold jewellery. It’s the little accessories that mean you can dress up an outfit in seconds for that desk to dance floor transformation. Ideal if you don’t want to look to ‘done’ as you trek across town with the rest of the holiday crowd.

This bag is Vince Camuto, the softest leather, the sort you know will just look better and better with age. And the tassel detail gives it a little seventies edge that I am obsessed with right now. As for the killer heels I was talking about – these are Kurt Geiger from Shoeaholics.com and the heel detail is insane. Wood and a battered metal. A fierce spikey shape, matt leather and the most flattering length cut just above the ankle to perfect with straight leg jeans.

Well both the gorgeous bag and these incredible boots were actually majorly reduced. I found out about a new website called Shoeaholics.com. In a nutshell its an incredible discount site for designer and highstreet shoes and handbags. Think Kurt Geiger, Nine West, Ugg, Carvela and Michael Kors each brand at up to 70% off. It will forever now be my go-to place when I need new shoes… I couldn’t believe some of the gems they have on there. Seriously dreamy shoes and handbags.

Then, wearing my blue 501 skinnies to death I bought them in the black too and they’re perfect for a ‘smarter’ evening look. Plus I love how they hold in the ‘mum-tum’. Pairing them with this Topshop emerald green top. Not a colour I would normally wear but as soon as I saw it in the shop I had to have it. And some say blue and green should never be seen… forget that. I love the peacock colour palette. This bag is Vince Camuto, the softest leather, the sort you know will just look better and better with age. And the tassel detail gives it a little seventies edge that I am obsessed with right now.

Bear in mind that I hardly ever go out these days so when I do I always end up emptying half of my wardrobe onto the bed, getting into a complete fluster and then pulling on what I was wearing that day and just changing my hair, makeup and accessories. I don’t know why I still do it every time when really I know its all about comfort. The best nights are always when I feel good, and a tight dress I am constantly pulling down doesn’t make me feel good. I much prefer to look like I haven’t tried… even when I very much have… for over an hour.

I hope you all enjoy the rest of the festive season. Thank you so much for reading…

Ashley
