Whether you’re stay-cationing or vacationing Summer brings with it a need for certain essentials and having just returned from the beautiful Deauville in Northern-France I thought now would be perfect time to share my absolute holiday favourites with you. Hopefully just in time for anyone about to make the most of the last few weeks in August.
Having enjoyed a sunshine break back in May, our August French break was more shopping and eating than sunbathing but I did get to have a few hours relaxing on the incredible beach there, honestly never seen such a long and wide stretch of sand before. It took ten minutes to walk the width of the beach in order to dip your toes in the sea! And with sunshine comes dried locks and sun kissed (red) skin… so in my first Summer essentials edit I wanted to share my absolute skin saviours, the makeup, the prep, the tan and all the gloss…
Walking into Space NK is like the four year old me walking into Woolies penny sweet section! I could spend a hell of a lot more in Space NK though! Chantecaille has always been on my radar and their rose de mai face oil is magical. But this Summer I discovered their foundation. Wow. If you have time you must pop into a stockist and try it. Its so natural. It somehow manages to give you the skin you were supposed to have. The skin you probably had at twelve years old. Ok maybe twenty five. But it gives you an amazing summer glow whilst covering up any blemishes and redness. The primer is spf 45 and an absolute must for me. And I use the blush in Happy and gloss in Love. They’re both a soft pink that give a great youthful pop especially with a tan. Also try the gel bronzer, I can’t stand powdery glittery bronzers and this is so luxurious it glides on to give an instant natural tan.
I was loyal to Chanel mascara for years and after a makeover at the new local Charlotte Tilbury counter I found myself falling in love with their Full Fat Lashes. It’s instant drama in a tube. Watch out for flakes after a long day though. And for brows… the pencil (I use Cara D) is the best I have tried. It has an awful design fault and I do have to keep returning it as they break overtime, but worth the effort its so good.
I have always been so lazy with my moisturising but post thirty its not an option anymore. I just love this lightweight Clinque formula. Its so refreshing to apply in the morning to tired eyes I actually look forward to sweeping it across my lids. And this REN oil is magical, I can actually feel my skin soaking it in like a much needed glass of water.
For years I have battled with hormonal acne around my mouth but just recently I have been learning how to get it under control, mainly with this amazing Salicylic Acid face wash. But I also make sure I use a fresh face cloth at every wash and avoid dairy where I can – especially those morning lattes I used to love so much. It’s almond milk all day everyday now.
And I’ll be writing up more shortly… the hair, the wardrobe, the beach armoury.
