The Friday Edit: A Woman’s Prerogative

The Friday Edit: A Woman’s Prerogative

Ok so I am very aware that after yesterdays wardrobe detox post I am now flaunting the opposite! Surely it is a woman’s prerogative to change her mind or at least take her time in rolling out the changes to her shopping habits. And besides, this week’s shopping has been more about essentials than extras… apart from the shoes which I just fell in love with, and maybe the beautiful leather jacket. I think the wardrobe detox starts from May. I am determined to make it work and you can track my progress with these Friday updates.

As for this the last week of April 2016… here goes…

The ‘fugly’ shoes

These super soft babies are not for everyone, but I fell in love and then when I felt how comfortable they were I knew they wouldn’t be leaving my feet all Spring/Summer. Heel up for colder weather and down for running around in the heat, they’ll look incredible with a tan too.

The (not quite essential) biker jacket

Ok definitely not essential but gorgeous nonetheless and there is 20% off right now, who can resist a bargain?!

I have a few leather jackets, collected over the years. The first was a beautiful Zara beaten up biker which I bought when I first moved into Central London and had my first ‘fashion job’, took a long time to save up for and I wore it every day yet it still looks great. I do believe that leather jackets (like men) get better with age. The second was a soft beige version from All Saints, cost a small fortune but still my favourite even with the cigarette burns thanks to crowded bars (so glad of the smoking ban). And the last was a H&M heavy leather version spotted on the amazing Lucy Williams of Fashion Me Now when I was pregnant with my daughter. It was way to small when it arrived and I used it as a goal for post-baby weight-loss. Here are snaps of the others for style ideas…

The ‘essential’ swimsuit

I am not a fan of shopping for swimwear, especially this time of year when your skin isn’t quite Summer-ready and it takes an age to get dressed out of all your layers.  But when I stumbled across this classic one-piece with a difference from Next I just loved the lace up detail. Especially the unexpected bit at the back. Gorgeous!

The very much needed face wash

And finally… the face wash. I have been having a few breakouts so have been researching some effective face washes and found this range by Peter Thomas Roth. It sounds really extreme by its title but basically the  active ingredient is 2% Salicylic Acid which gently exfoliates and helps clear my skin. I’ve used it all this week and haven’t had a single breakout. I believe skin works in a six week cycle so will keep you updated if anyones interested let me know in the comments box. Other than that it is quite gentle – its oil-free, fragrance-free, alcohol free and dye free with a pH level 3.5-4.5.

Thank you so much for having a read. I hope you have a fabulous bank holiday weekend. And as always I LOVE to read your comments.

Love,

Vx

I’ve got one cheap and cheerful biker jacket, and one CRAZY expensive one (both black). I wear them both equally and have never regretted either of them! xx

I’ve been using Paula’s choice skin balancing cleanser for a while now and it’s great! Having had lots of breakouts after Christmas I was about to throw all my skincare out of the window. All I had to do was stop using my expensive Charlotte Tilbury creams and hey presto! Not one breakout since! Would be great to know how you get in with this range v 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻😉😉

Thanks Sam I’ve stopped using the Charlotte creams too… Far too thick for my skin. Have you found any good daily moisturisers? 😘
