This week I have kept it pretty simple by updating my wardrobe basics. Anyone that follows my Instagram will know a week cannot pass without me wearing a breton stripe, so I introduced two new striped tops this week, a Summer t-shirt and a long sleeved version but with an interesting neck detail. The t-shirt isn’t online, its H&M but I’ll snap it next week and share it on IG.
I have included the long sleeved purchase details below as well as a couple of other buys I managed to sneak in….
The Cheap and Cheerful Striped Top
I have to admit I don’t really like Primark, I’m not a fan of the way they work, and wonder how the clothes can be so cheap… now saying that I sound like a complete hypocrite as I walked past the shop front and had a spare few minutes so I thought I would see what they’re up to. And then I fell in love with a super fine striped top which I have snapping away on Instagram.
The top has a draped style front similar to the shirts that have been all over the highstreet the past few seasons. It is more flattering than the shirts as the length falls below the hips, giving you less of that billowy belly look but still hiding any mum-tum. It actually comes up higher on the chest than I like but I knew once I had got it home I could snip open the front and pop a thread through the drapes to join it where it falls best on me.
They don’t have the striped version online but they do have it in another colour which I have included the link to below so you get an idea of what it looks like. It certainly doesn’t look anything special online nor hanging in the shop but I love it on! And it is so easy to change the depth of the neckline to whatever suits you best. And it was only £9!!!!!!!

The White Shirt
I am always on the look out for a white shirt, no matter how well you wash them its a rare white shirt that stays white! A white shirt is a staple wardrobe item, you can dress it up and down (see my last post on basics). This H&M cotton version is lovely and soft but still quite stiff so you can have it open at the front and push the collar back. And at £14.99 you won’t despair too much when it eventually greys….
The Spring Scarf
I adore the look of Dodo Bar Or and Cecilie Copenhagen but currently credit card says ‘no’ so I found this scarf at Zara – gorgeously soft and really large. Ideal for Winters, Spring and Summer as a shoulder wrap. And it has a similar print and feel to give my outfit an air of designer keffiyeh….

The Skin Saviour
When you mostly wear black and white I have to add colour somewhere so in comes my trusty fake tan! I love this tan so much, I know I have written about it before (here) probably more than once, but it is so good. Lasts over a week, never streaks and unlike other fakes tans with my relatively dry dehydrated skin, it actually fades naturally rather than in patches which is such a giveaway with fake tans. Its pricey but cost per wear I think it evens out. I use the mousse as find it easiest to apply but the lotion is on offer in Boots at the moment…

And that concludes where my money has gone this week…any good buys this week you can share?
Love to hear from you and thank you so much for reading my post xxx
I follow you on IG but this is the first time I have read your blog and I love it. Where are the black trousers from as you haven’t mentioned them in your most recent blog. Also, does the fake tan come in various shades? Do you find the colour natural looking? I have used various ones in the past but as I am quite pale I always feel that they look either too orange or too dark xx
Thank you so much for reading the blog! The black trousers with lace detail are H&M. And yes the tan comes in a few shades, I use medium, you could probably use medium too but just one application rather than over three days as they recommend. The top layer comes off after a shower and you’re left with a lovely glow. If it’s not enough just add another. I use two layers. Hope that helps xx
I’ve been thinking over the past few days that I need a little colour on my skin. I guess I’ll wait until after the baby arrives but I will be trying out the Vita Liberata just as soon as I can – lasting a week sounds very good. I might however treat myself to the scarf now…
Oh I’m wishing you the best of luck with the birth it’s so exciting! Get ready for the best day of your life xxxxx
